Nature of cobalt active species in hydrodesulfurization catalysis: combined support and preparation method effects

2007

Abstract Co/γ-Al2O3, Co/SiO2, Co/MCM-41, Co/ASA and Co/S2 (amorphous aluminosilicate with Al/Si = 0.13 and with Al/Si ≈ 2, respectively) were prepared by the method of wet impregnation and by the method of precipitation in the presence of sodium carbonate. The samples were characterised by XPS, XRD and TPR. The catalytic activity was tested in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene using a continuous flow reactor. Among the wet impregnated catalysts those supported on the amorphous and ordered mesoporous silica exhibited higher HDS activity as compared to the alumina containing supports. Particularly, the use of the mesoporous, high surface area MCM-41 support, determined the best performing…

Synthesis, crystal structure, DFT and biological activity of E-pyrene-1-carbaldehyde oxime and E-2-naphthaldehyde oxime

2020

Abstract The aldoximes E-pyrene-1-carbaldehyde oxime 1 and E-2-naphthaldehyde oxime 2 were synthesized, in ca. 90% yield, by treatment of pyrene-1-carbaldehyde or 2-naphthaldehyde, respectively, with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and sodium carbonate in MeOH. Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by IR, 1H and 13C{1H} NMR spectroscopies, elemental analyses and single crystal X-ray diffraction (in the case of 1). The studied system (compound 1) showed significant amounts of H⋯H (44.4%), C⋯H (25.4%) and C⋯C (13.3%) intermolecular interactions in addition to the short N⋯H (5.9%) and O⋯H (6.2%) intermolecular interactions. These interactions affect the molecular packing of the studied system in th…

The Formation of Glycerol Oligomers with Two New Types of End Groups in the Presence of a Homogeneous Alkaline Catalyst

2019

The purpose of this work was to synthesize and characterize oligoglycerols with the chains of more than four repeating units. Those oligoglycerols may have some interesting applications, among others, as polyoxyalkylation starters. The glycerol oligomerization process was carried out during 12 h, at 230 &deg

Role of lignin and sodium carbonate on the swelling behavior of black liquor droplets during combustion

2018

AbstractA partial removal of lignin from black liquor (BL) by carbonation and lignin precipitation was studied. In lignin-lean BL droplets during combustion in a laboratory furnace at 800°C in stagnant air, the maximum swelling was decreased. This observation was interpreted as showing that the lignin content decrement is due mainly to removal of higher molar mass (HMM) lignin and that the Na2CO3content of the BL is increased. Stepwise precipitation experiments with industrial softwood and hardwood kraft BLs by carbonation (resulting in pH decrement from 13 to 9) indicated that a fraction of HMM lignin (MM >10 kDa) with a higher amount of carbohydrates precipitated more prominently and e…

Investigation of carbonized layer on surface of NaAlSi glass fibers

2013

There are presented and discussed experimental results about carbonate shell on the sodium rich alumosilicate (NaAlSi) glass fibers and carbonization in wet air atmosphere and water uptake kinetic of such fiber fabrics. The analyzes of water uptake kinetic by regression technique, leaching and heating of carbonized glass fabrics helped to separate stages of fast and slow processes between fiber and carbonate shell and air atmosphere. The shell contains mixture of trona and hydrated sodium carbonate. Heating converts both substances to sodium carbonate. The weight uptake after heating encounters two fast exponential processes associated with water absorption on the surface of carbonated shel…

Total oxidation of propene at low temperature over Co3O4–CeO2 mixed oxides: Role of surface oxygen vacancies and bulk oxygen mobility in the catalyti…

2008

Liotta, L. F. Ousmane, M. Di Carlo, G. Pantaleo, G. Deganello, G. Marci, G. Retailleau, L. Giroir-Fendler, A.; Co3O4, CeO2 and Co3O4-CeO2 mixed oxides with Co/Ce nominal atomic ratio 0.1:5, prepared by co-precipitation method with sodium carbonate, were tested in the oxidation of propene under lean condition and the catalyst stability was checked by performing three consecutive heating-cooling cycles. Characterization of the textural properties were performed by surface area measurement BET, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. Among the Co3O4-CeO2 mixed oxides, Co3O4 (30 Wt%)-CeO2 (70 wt%) gives the best activity attaining full propene conversion at …

Understanding the separation of anion mixtures by TiO2 membranes: Numerical investigation and effect of alkaline treatment on physicochemical propert…

2019

Abstract Mechanisms governing the rejection of ions from multi-ionic solutions, and especially the selectivity between various anions are not fully understood at the present time. In this study, it is proposed, in a first part, to investigate the evolution of electric and dielectric exclusion mechanisms when anions are mixed in a solution. For this purpose, the volumetric membrane charge Xd and the dielectric constant of the solution confined within pores ep are numerically assessed from rejection curves with a classic transport model. This study highlights that the rejection of the various anions is differently governed by electric and dielectric mechanisms but their contribution to mixtur…

Influence of the preparation method on the activity of ceria zirconia mixed oxides for naphthalene total oxidation

2013

Cerium/zirconium mixed oxides, with different Ce/Zr ratios, have been synthesised by a co-precipitation method using two different precipitating agents (sodium carbonate and urea) and tested for the total oxidation of naphthalene. Catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption, XRD, Raman, TPR, XPS and DRIFTS. Ceria prepared by carbonate precipitation had low activity and this is likely to be related to the high concentration of residual surface carbonate that covers catalytic sites and inhibits reaction. For carbonate precipitation, increasing the Zr content to 1% resulted in a significant increase of activity, which is related to the decrease of surface carbonate. Increasing the Zr content…

( n ‐Bu 2 Sn) 2 O(CO 3 ): An active, robust and recyclable organotin(IV) for the direct synthesis of linear organic carbonates from carbon dioxide an…

2017

Organotin(IV) compounds are known to promote the direct synthesis of organic carbonates from carbon dioxide and alcohols. In the past, structural studies have highlighted that the carbonato moiety is a recurring ligand of tin species collected during CO2 pressurized reactions. In a mimetic approach and in order to achieve an available and recyclable precursor, the title compound (n-Bu2Sn)2O(CO3) (1) was prepared in a single step by reacting commercial di-n-butyltin dichloride with an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate. Compound 1 was characterized using infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric and elemental analyses. Multinuclear NMR investigations in solution were also conducted. Comp…
